Client Testimonials for DogWould
Grizzly on vacation, meeting new friends. His owners really enjoy taking him on road trips.
From the owners of Grizzly, a male Rottweiler:
"DogWould is fantastic, the trainer really understands dog behavior and does a great job educating and training owners to deal with problems and issues they may be facing with their dogs. My husband Jon and I have a 7 year old male Rottweiler who was behaving aggressively towards other dogs on walks, lunging, growling, etc. We knew his aggressive behavior was out of character for him as he was very well socialized and never behaved aggressively in other settings with dogs that were unknown to him. For some reason however, as soon as he had a leash on his neck his behavior changed, and we felt he could no longer accompany us on our walks and outings. Another issue we faced was that although he liked everyone, old friends and perfect strangers, he never warmed up to my father-in-law, something we were wanting to address as well.
I saw DogWould's add on Kijiji Saskatoon and thought why not give it a try. The price was very reasonable and rather than going to a class, or signing up for a bunch of classes we didn't really need, the trainer was willing to accompany us on a walk with Grizzly and experience first-hand what we were dealing with. The trainer did a great job of explaining to us why his behavior was so different on walks, so opposite of the dog we knew he really was, a calm, gentle Rottweiler. We only needed one lesson from DogWould! It took one hour for the DogWould trainer to show us how to better handle our dog, and how our behavior was directly contributing to Grizzly's aggressive behavior without our even realizing it. The trainer was super nice to work with, not a drill Sargent, and never lectured us or made us feel belittled which I know from experience some trainers have a tendency to do. The DogWould trainer took the stress out of a stressful situation.
If you are having problems with your dog do not hesitate to contact DogWould. The trainer will come right to your home, and can see first-hand what you are going through. The trainer will work with you to solve the problem and keep in touch so that if you have any questions DogWould can promptly answer them.
Shortly a few months after our training session with DogWould I was happy to be able to send this update:
'I have to tell you, we decided to take Grizzly with us on a road trip thru Alberta and B.C. I was a little apprehensive since we hadn't practiced the walking techniques you showed us very much (because of all the rain we had) and I knew we would encounter many other dogs as we were staying in campgrounds, and on the trails. He clearly remembered the lessons taught to him! I was so proud of him, in all my dog owning years it was the first time I was the one with the dog that was well behaved ignoring other dogs (and believe me there were oh so many temptations for him to resort to his former self). It was like we had a different Rotti, both Jon and I were shocked at how well he behaved. He has become the perfect dog! I was even comfortable enough with his behavior to walk him myself. Also, Jon's dad has been following the advice [...] and they now seem to have an understanding of each other, they tolerate each other.
Thank you once again, I now enjoy walking my perfect dog!'
It's been 1 year since I sent DogWould this update and Grizzly is still the perfect dog! The DogWould trainer is in our opinion Saskatoon's very own dog whisperer.
Thank you,
Carmen, Jon & Grizzly"

From the owner Pokey, a female Miniature Daschund:
"DogWould has now worked with myself and my miniature daschund, Pokey, for two years. Initially, the services included simply visiting Pokey a couple of times a day for bathroom breaks however as time went on, DogWould began helping out with overnight and weekend stays when travel was required. Regardless of the type or length of service required, my mind has always been at ease when Pokey was with DogWould.
DogWould has also been incredibly responsible, diligent, efficient, flexible and, above all, caring. Simply put - it has always been quite evident that caring for Pokey was not just DogWould's job but that the pet sitter invested an incredible amount of time, energy and passion into the services. Pokey has always been happy and comfortable with DogWould and, given her nature as a small breed attached to her owner, this speaks to DogWould's expertise and pet care approach. Updates on the pet sitter’s time with Pokey have always been appreciated, that have ranged from eating and bathroom habits to simple daily moods and changes.
Additionally - logistically speaking - alongside pet care, I have always had the peace of mind to know that my house was equally well-watched and maintained while DogWould stayed with Pokey.
I would not hesitate to recommend DogWould for any type of associated pet care services for any interested clients and know that any pet in DogWould’s care is a pet well-cared for, and treated as though to be DogWould’s own.
Kyle and Pokey"

Cash spends time relaxing in his crate.
From the owner of Cash, a male Mixed Breed:
Kira, Cash’s owner, shares some of her emails to DogWould.
“I am very interested [in Private Lessons]. You are the first person who's been sincere, and not stuck up about this. I am not a dog trainer but I've been fostering dogs for a little over two years and love dogs. I've been able to train out every other behavioral problem I've come in contact with, it's really frustrating to know that I have a food obsessed (not aggressive) dog at home. The only other problem he has is that he gets really hyper around new people; weight gain and excessive amounts of exercise is helping with that a lot though. He's husky \ border collie so he has A LOT of energy…
I originally got Cash for my son who has cerebral palsy and can't walk, and he's great with him. I would love a dog that has no unhealthy eating habits as it worries me, and he gets more nervous around other dogs, never aggressive, but he eats that food as fast as he possibly can. I've found if I feed him outside it's not as bad as if he's inside. I really just need help in knowing what direction to go in from here cuz I've run out of ideas. Of all the behavioral problems I've faced with all the foster dogs I've had I've been able to work them out, but not with my own [dog]. It's a little frustrating.
Thought I'd send you an update! Got his crate set up and he hangs out in there most of the time on his own. The [techniques are] working fantastically… he actually went into the living room and laid down today while I was ‘eating his food’… Over all it's been going great, big improvements in just the last 2 days.
[Cash has] been responding so well [...] (he doesn't even get out of his bed anymore) and me not having full on conversations with him. We decided to try something today. We dished up his food while he was outside and hid it just around the corner in the kitchen. After being in the living room for about an hour we opened the gate and let him ‘find his food’… Finally he walked around the corner and found his food and he just looked at me like ‘wha...?’ And I told him to eat and he sat down and ate at a leisurely pace :)”
Thank you Kira!

A proud Darby with his certificate after Starter Class graduation.
From the owners of Darby, a male Golden Retriever:
"Hi This is our 3 year old Golden Retriever Darby who has just graduated from the DogWould Starter Class. Darby has had issues with getting into our SUV and with going into buildings and so we have not been to classes for quite some time. In fact we have had other trainers who have not been able to help us with these issues. We signed up for DogWould Starter Class and could not have found a better fit for us. We had a few private sessions at our home and by the end of the first session, Darby had gotten into the SUV (amazing). We had lots to work on every day ourselves and with the help of the DogWould trainer, Darby is gaining confidence and will get in the SUV - he has also been to one class inside a building and actually enjoyed himself. We are now working on several things with the help of the DogWould trainer and looking forward to having a happy relaxed dog instead of a nervous anxious one.
If you are willing to do the work with your dog and are looking for a great fun way to start training your puppy or even your older dog, this is a great way to do it.
Val and Harry, and Darby"
Note: Darby has since completed the Starter Class once more (a session held fully indoors), and went on to graduate from the DogWould Starter Plus+ (again in an indoor environment). Way to go, Darby!

From the owners of Royal, a male German Shepherd Dog:
"Royal, The Feisty German Shepherd
DogWould came to our home for a private consultation regarding our 11 month old German Shepherd and from the moment the trainer walked in our door, we felt comfortable & encouraged, and Royal responded in some very positive ways.
DogWould was non-judgmental, non-critical, sensitive to both Royal and all four members of our family.
Everyone was treated positively and with respect.
The trainer explained the concepts of training and handling in a way that we could understand and put into practice, gave demonstrations of what we needed to do and answered all of our questions fully and cheerfully. Our options were all explained carefully and we gained a better understanding of what Royal needed.
As a result of DogWould’s visit, that same afternoon, Royal was calmer and more settled than we had ever seen him.
We were able to defuse 3 attempts Royal made to be hostile with our smaller dog, Royal responded to all commands and was very relaxed and content.
If a dog has a behaviour problem, DogWould is definitely who you should call. Your dog will be treated positively and with respect and so will you, because DogWould seems to understand both dogs and people and the trainer is genuinely good and kind to both. The trainer’s knowledge and experience is vast...and it shows.
Bottom Line? DogWould is a lifesaver....literally.

From the owner of Cooper, a male German Shepherd Dog:
"I reached out to DogWould looking for some guidance and training after my dog’s behaviour seemed to change with his age, becoming reactive and showing aggression toward people and dogs. After the evaluation meeting in our home, I was mortified and felt completely helpless and guilty as Cooper was extremely uncooperative and hostile. The trainer was positive we could work with his behaviour and make changes with training and socialization. Through [...] consistent patience and training both privately and in class, I have gained confidence in Cooper and he has become less fearful of his surroundings. I often get compliments on how well mannered he is in public which I thought was impossible before we started training. I continue to train and socialize Cooper with DogWould and see so much improvement. I highly recommend the trainer and DogWould for any level of training!
